The floor consists of the following areas:
- The bottom floor layer.
- The middle floor layer.
- The top floor layer.
- The four surrounds.
- Particle emitters at each corner of the surround
These can be individually selected using the tabs at the top:
The Left Hand Style Panel
The left hand panel shows the style of the currently selected area. The current texture is displayed at the top of the panel, along with controls to allow you to select the texture either using a menu, or via the arrow buttons to move back and forth through the textures. To make the selected layer invisible, select the Transparent
button.
The lower half of the left hand panel allows you to modify the current textures colour, shine, and glow. These touch sensitive sliders allow any colour to be selected using different levels or Red, Green and Blue; four different levels of shine; and shine. Be aware that shine on multiple layers has a cumulative effect and should be used sparingly.
The Right Hand Style Panel
The right hand panel displays a model of the floor showing the combined effect of your layer styles.
- Apply to floor
- Applies the currently selected styles to the floor. This will stop the currently select Preset Cycle - Note this style will be lost upon a hard reset unless backed up as a preset (See Presets section below).
- Add To Memory
- Once you are happy with the style of the floor, you can add the style to the T1000's internal memory. The style will be played in turn when the
In Memory
preset is selected. Note - You should backup your In-Memory presets to prevent them being lost during a hard reset. (See Presets section below)
The Effects Section
The Effects Tab contains a list of all effects in the floor on the right hand side, and a media-player style Effects controller on the left.
The media-player style controller provides the following functions:
- Stop Button
- Stops all effects from playing, overriding those in any currently playing presets.
- Play Button
- Plays the effect currently showing in the middle of the right hand list. The currently playing effect is shown in purple. Use the up and down arrows either end of the list to move through the effects.

- Repeat Button
- The repeat button looks like 2 circular arrows. This button toggles the repeat mode, where only styles in the currently selected preset will continue to be displayed. Pressing the button a second time will turn the repeat function off.
- Random Button
- The random button looks like 2 overlapping arrows. This button toggles the random mode. Presets will play in a random order. Pressing the button a second time will turn this function off.
- Clear Memory
- Clears all styles stored in the
In Memory
preset. A confirmation is required before this command is processed. - Backup Memory
- Pressing this button relays an instant message to the individual, containing the current style settings that have been stored in the T1000's memory. This action should be performed to prevent the In Memory settings being lost in the event of a hard reset. The contents of the instant message can be copied from chat and pasted into either a new or existing notecard in the T1000s contents. The name of the notecard will then automatically appear in the preset list to the right.
Note: The default time for a preset style to play before moving on to the next style is 30 seconds. This is controlled by the first number in the preset settings. For example:
30|blank/<0,0,0>/0|none|none|none|none
can be changed to play for two minutes (for example) as follows:
120|blank/<0,0,0>/0|none|none|none|none
The Dance tab provides control over the dance machine element of the T1000.
- The Dance Machine Panel
- Provides the ability to switch the dance machine on or off independently to the T1000.
- The Automatic Dancing Panel
- Controls whether people are asked to dance automatically on stepping onto the floor (on) or via touch only (off).
The Dance Mode Panel:
- Synch'd

- Play Button - Plays the dance currently showing in the middle of the right hand list. The currently playing dance is shown in purple. Use the up and down arrows either end of the list to move through the dances.
- Forward and back buttons - Moves to and immediately plays the highlighted dance. To move through the list without playing the dances, use the up and down arrows at either end of the list.
Please follow the instructions below to add dances to the dance floor. Please note that the T1000 is only compatible with single dances not couples dances.
- Right click the Dance floor and select edit.
- Go to the contents tab of the edit dialogue box and drag your dances from your inventory into the contents tab.
You will then find that the dances are listed in the drop down menu that appears when you either click the floor or walk onto it.
The dance menu can be easily customised to allow you to group and rename dances. This is controlled by the notecard z_Dance_Names in the T1000 contents.
To access this function, right click on the T1000 and select Edit
. Wait for the contents tab to load and double click on the notecard named z_Dance_Names. The notecard format is as follows:
[Group1]
animation name1: friendly name1
animation name2: friendly name2
[Group2]
animation name3: friendly name3
animation name4: friendly name4
So, for example, a notecard containing dances grouped by male or female would look like this:
[Male]
TIS Male Dance: Rock
TIS Gin and Tonic: Twist
[Female]
TIS Lambrini : Disco
TIS Buttweiser: Shake It!
And would give the following menu:
If you accidentally reference a dance not in the T1000, the machine will state:
Could not find animation name, upon loading.
Textures and effects purchased from the There In Spirit Store can be easily added to T1000 by editing the floor and dragging the unpacked texture pack or effect from your inventory to the contents tab. However it is also possible to add your own textures, for example your club logo.
If you only wish for your logo to be stationary on the floor, then it can simply be dropped into the floors contents. The texture will then appear in Style Tab for all layers. If you wish to animate your texture then the following naming convention will need to be applied to the texture before adding it to the floor:
layer/texture name/Animation/xframes/yframes/start frame/end frame/speed/color/transparency/xrepeats/yrepeats
These are defined as:
- layer
- for textures for the bottom layer, 2 for middle layer, 3 for top, 4 for surround or 5 for emitters. Combinations are allowed - So 123/ would appear on all three layers.
- texture name
- A name to allow you to identify the texture in the menu.
- Animation
- One or more of the following constants:
- S - Smooth Animation - Slides the texture smoothly (instead of individual frames - see below).
- L - Loop the animation (otherwise it will play once and stop)
- R - Rotate the texture
- C - Scale (zoom in or out)
- V - Reverse the animation
- P - Ping Pong (play the animation then play it in reverse)
- N - No animation
- These constants can be used together, so to continuously smoothly rotate the texture this should be set to
RSL
- Note S and R cannot be used together.
- xframes
- The number of horizontal frames to divide the texture up into. 1 is the entire texture. 2 splits it in half and so on.
- yframes
- The number of vertical frames to divide the texture up into.
- start frame
- The first frame of the animation to play. So if you have a texture divided into 2 horizontal and 2 vertical frames, that is 4 frames in total. Setting this to 2 will skip the first frame (top left). For rotations, this is the starting angle of rotation. Normally 0. For scaling this is the starting zoom level - 1 is normal, 2 is twice the size and so on
- end frame
- The last frame of the animation to play (Set to 0 to play all frames). For rotations, this is the ending angle of the rotation. Set to 6.283 for a seamless rotation. For scaling this is the ending zoom level.
- speed
- How fast the texture animates, in frames per second
- color
- A vector Red,Green,Blue denoting the base colour.
<1,1,1>
is white.<0,0,0>
is black. - transparency
- A number between 0 (fully transparent) and 1 (fully visible)
- xrepeats
- For still and rotating textures the number of times to repeat the animation horizontally (not required otherwise)
- yrepeats
- For still and rotating textures the number of times to repeat the animation horizontally (not required otherwise)
Examples:
To scroll your texture across the layer:
1/MyTexture/LS/1/1/0/0/0.5/<1,1,1>/1/1/1
To rotate a texture (with it repeated 5 times on the layer)
1/MyTexture/RLS/1/1/0/6.283/0.1/<1,1,1>/1/5/5
to scale a texture in and out from 1/2 size to full size
1/MyTexture/CPSL/1/1/0.5/2/0.3/<1,1,1>/1/1/1
Note: To display your venue's logo on the floor replace the texture named Off
with your own.
You are also able to purchase these prim effects separately for use without the T1000. To read more about the prim effects and how to use them please click the following links:
TIS Fire EffectTIS Firework Effect
TIS Foam Effect
TIS Lit Panels Effect
TIS Mirrorball Effect
TIS Planets Effect
The following effects have an additional prim requirements.
- TIS Fire - 26 + temporarily rezzed prims that do not count against prim limits.
- TIS Lit Panels - 46
- TIS Mirror Ball - 3
- TIS Planets - 37
It is possible for you to have multiple machines out in the same sim. This is useful if you have certain venues that you wish only to have certain dances used in. When setting out multiple machines please bear in mind however that in order to have the same dance in each machine you must either purchase multiple transferable dances or have a copyable version of the dance. Just because the machine is copyable does not render your dances as such!
To have more than one dance floor out, all you need to do is drag another TIS T1000 from your inventory to the ground in world, and also another T1000 Controller to the ground.
Changing Channels
You can have multiple machines customised in different ways on the same sim. To do this you will need to set the channel number for each floor and the corresponding T1000 Controller it is connected to.
To do this simply amend the description field of the T1000 and the T1000 Controller so that they have the same channel number as follows:
- Right click and select edit on one of the T1000 Floors.
- In the general tab of the edit dialogue box locate the description field this will already have text in there like this:
-12328*1*1*7*0
The Channel number is the -12328 - Set the new channel by editing this text so for example
-12600*1*1*7*0
would set the channel to be -12600. - Whilst in edit mode of the product, reset the scripts. Depending on what Second Life Client you are using this can usually be found in the Build Menu on Firestorm or in the Build Menu on the Second Life Viewer 2.
- Repeat the above steps for the T1000 Controller ensuring that you set the same channel as above. You will notice that in the description field of the controller only the channel number is present i.e. -12328
- Whilst in edit mode of the product, reset the scripts of the T1000 Controller. Depending on what Second Life Client you are using this can usually be found in the Build Menu on Firestorm or in the Build Menu on the Second Life Viewer 2.
By default the dance machine comes configured to allow up to 50 people to dance. The dance machine utilises a unique scripting technology that switches off unused scripts so they do not impact server resources, however you may wish to either add or remove dance slots to suit your requirements. This is easily accomplished by adding or removing the scripts named zDance_Slot 1 to 100 from the floor. Note that a script is required for each person up to 100 people.
